8 days
Spain’s three major cities may have a lot in common, but they also each have their own unique personality. That’s why this Best of Spain Tour includes everything you’ll want to visit in order to get a good overall picture of the country’s very eclectic culture, from the renowned museums of Madrid, to the flamenco clubs of Seville, to the quirky Antonio Gaudi-designed buildings in beautiful Barcelona.
Begin your tour in Madrid, the capital of Spain, situated in the center of the country and home to more than 3 million residents. A major center for politics, education, culture, fashion, and science, it’s one of the greenest cities in Europe and one of the most livable as well. On your full-day private city tour, you’ll have the opportunity to explore this fascinating city and visit such attractions as the fabulous Prado Museum, The Royal Palace, The Royal Theater, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. During your leisure time, attend a bull fight, enjoy a soccer game, or go shopping in the city’s upscale retail districts.
Next, continue to Seville via train, arriving in time for an evening on your own followed by a full-day tour of Spain’s fourth-largest city. Located in the south, it boasts a number of fine museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts and an excellent archaeological museum, and is home to many lovely parks and gardens. On your tour, you’ll enjoy the sounds of flamenco as you explore Seville’s neighborhoods and outdoor markets. In your free time, visit lovely Maria Luisa Park or the Alcazar Gardens, snap photos of the Metropol Parosol – the world’s largest wooden structure, and taste the tapas at one of the hundreds of restaurants in the city center.
Complete your tour with a visit to vibrant Barcelona, the land of Antoni Gaudi and the capital of Catalonia. Located on the coast and blessed with a pleasant Mediterranean climate, Barcelona boasts everything from basilicas to beaches and you’ll see many of them on your full-day private tour of the city. Marvel at the works of Gaudi when you visit the magnificent Sagrada Familia Church, Casa Vicens, La Pedrera, and Casa Batlló. Explore the Gothic Quarter, stop for a visit to the National Museum of Art of Catalonia or Picasso Museum, and save time to test the sand at Sant Sebastia or Sommorostro Beach. For the best in shopping, head to the Passeig de Gràcia where you’ll find shops by many of the world’s top designers.
